God speaks

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

One of my favorite things about God, is the way he speaks to us. He doesn't speak to us in ordinary ways but rather extraordinary ways. In my life, he often uses children to speak to me and today he used a 1 year old girl that I babysit.
As I was babysitting today I put the baby in her high chair and gave her a drink and some cheerios while I did some dishes. When all of her cheerios were gone she began to scream at me trying to get my attention to let me know she needed more cheerios. (Let me remind you that I was still in the same room as her and she could see me and hear me as I talked to her.) Normally, I would begin to have my patience thin a bit with each yell but today God used that yell to teach me and speak to me.
God showed me that I'm that child. I often cry out to God wondering where He is and why he isn't giving me what I want. I forget that he is right there with me, listening to my every scream, knowing exactly what I need but teaching me that I don't have to yell at him because he already knows what I need and will give it to me when I am ready for it. I just need to be still and know that He is God and he knows best.
